What is PHP?

Just like it sounds, patients are only partially hospitalized. The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is an intensive five-day treatment program serving children and adolescents ages 5 through 17 who are experiencing emotional or behavioral problems. Patients follow a personalized treatment plan for therapy and medication management. They are only required to be in the hospital during their scheduled PHP hours. When patients’ symptoms are not severe enough to require inpatient treatment, but they are also not quite ready for outpatient care, that’s where PHP comes in.

Program Overview

This level of treatment provides similar therapy services and educational components as a traditional inpatient program, but patients do not stay in the hospital overnight. Additionally, PHP supports patients transitioning from inpatient care or those who require more intensive services than those provided by traditional outpatient therapy, so some patients may only need PHP for their treatment and others may step down into it from a higher level of care.

Our multidisciplinary team members include a registered psychiatrist, nurse practitioner, registered nurse, social workers, licensed clinical therapist, behavioral counselors and a specialized teacher. Services are individually tailored to provide a coordinated, intensive and comprehensive plan for the patient.
