Until now, no other hospital in the nation had been awarded Disease-Specific Certification for Trauma-Informed Care by The Joint Commission.

Hartgrove Behavioral Health System’s TRAUMA Program received official certification following a rigorous survey conducted by The Joint Commission (nation’s leading healthcare regulatory entity), demonstrating they met the organization’s highest standards for quality health care.

“We are now the first facility in the nation with this Joint Commission certification! Our significant investment in quality will prove to be mutually beneficial to our patients, families, our industry and our community. Joint Commission Disease-Specific Certification provides us a framework to take our organization to the next level and helps reinforce our culture of excellence,” says Steven Airhart, CEO, Hartgrove Behavioral Health System. “Achieving Joint Commission certification in Trauma-Informed Care, is reflective of our commitment to maintaining excellence and setting the industry standard.”

Hartgrove’s TRAUMA Program addresses the impact of a variety of traumatic stressors on the mental health functioning of children, adolescents, and adults, and works to resolve the stressors associated with the trauma. The TRAUMA Program focuses on providing patients with the tools and skills needed to manage trauma-related symptoms, which can result in a decrease in trauma-related distress. As a part of discharge planning, program therapists complete a thorough discharge summary, which can be forwarded to aftercare providers to assist in the transition and ensure continuity of treatment.

Airhart concluded, “We’re proud that Hartgrove Behavioral Health System has been a pioneer in many of the exiting developments in the treatment of both simple and complex mental health related issues. We continue to forge new paths with state-of-the-art equipment and cutting edge practices which are proving to be revolutionary in the industry.”
